| FE Leaders Sponsors Children From Charity Homes To Creative "Robotic" Class. |
|
Recently, 80 children (aged 13 to 18 years) from 16 Children’s Homes were presented with the opportunity to attend 2 workshops on 22th May 2010 and 12th June 2010 (each with 40 participants) on, “The ART Of Creating and Building ROBOTS Using Recyclable Everyday Objects” conducted by FE, MLP member Whiz Wits Integrated Network headed by Lim Nam Aik, husband of Maggie Loo, FE Ambassador for “Hope For Children”. The opportunity was made possible by the generous, compassionate gesture of 16 FE Leaders who “walked the talk” regarding Social Entrepreneurship, each sponsoring 5 underprivileged children from a selected home of their choice.
The objective of this program was to provide an additional means for underprivileged young people to acquire new knowledge and hands-on skill in order to equip and empower themselves to enhance their self-worth, self-confidence, and self-reliance which is in line with FE "Hope For Children" mission. With the acquired skills, the children can in turn effectively contribute by helping their own homes to generate sustainable income by continuously making commercially viable recyclable products for sale or through auction.
Participants were taught and guided through 4 essential processes, which included Conceptualization, Construction, Assembling and Finishing, of creating and building Robots using recyclable materials in a practical, constructive, fun and creative way. All within 1 full day.
The works of the 16 teams from the children’s homes were showcased at the MLP Merchant Bazaar Area on 19 June during FE Achievers’ Recognition Night at the Malaysia Agro-Exposition Park, Serdang (MAEPS).
Our sincere gratitude and appreciation go to the following FE Leaders With A Big Heart who have enriched the lives of these less fortunate and underprivileged children and provided them with new skills to empower themselves!
